Instagram Insights, how to read them
Having a business account on Instagram, helps enhance your growth and monetize it but, many people doesn’t know that one of the advantages of having a business account are Instagram Insights.
Audience on Instagram Insights
In the first place, you should be aware that one of the advantages of having a business account, is that you can have access to the insights through the app. These insights, will help you to know better your audience and, adjust your content to it.
Audience:
In this section, you can learn more about your audienc. Know exactly who are your followers and, adapt your content to their interest to increase your engagement. These insight, will show the following information:
-Location: where is located most part of your audience. You will be able to check the cities and the countries, where most of your audience is coming from. This information, is essential, to help you know which hours are your followers more active, when are having holidays, from which countries are coming, etc. Knowing these will help you, to adapt the hours you post, to reach the higher amount of followers and to adapt different marketing strategies to each culture.
-Age: which age range is your audience. You will see is distributed by ranges. Also, you will be able to check the age range by gender. This is very useful to adapt the content to their ages, usually the same content shouldn’t be the same to middle age users as to young users. If you check the Insights and discover most of your followers are from early age, you should be very careful with the content you post so your feed doesn’t have adult content.
-Gender: knowing if you have more male or female followers ,will help you to plan a better marketing strategy as well as, to know which brands are more responsive. Also, is very useful to know which collaborations will have more reaction.
(Remember, on Instagram, unlike Facebook, is not mandatory to fill all this information about the user when you sign up an account. As a consequence, is complicated to filter by location, age or gender, if the user doesn’t have the account vinculated to Facebook, which is where Instagram takes the information)
Activity:
Also, you will be able to check which days and hours are your followers more active. This is essential, since Instagram is not showing the post in chronological order, posting on the perfect moment makes the difference in order to increase the engagement. Since the last update, Instagram is showing your post only to around 10% of your followers. This change, has end in a decrease of the engagement, so posting during the time your followers are more active is indispensable to reach the higher amount of followers, so they can interact with your post.
If 15 minutes before posting you receive a high amount of engagement, Instagram will consider you are posting quality content and, will show it to more followers. In conclusion, knowing when your audience is more active, will help you reaching more users, hence more engagement.
Tip: we know is hard to reach a high engagement to gain a higher visibility on your post, that’s why, we recommend you to do an Story every time you post. This way, once other users see it, they will go directly to your account.
Content on Instagram Insights
Knowing about your followers is important but, the content you post is what attract users to your profile. Having detailed information about your content is very useful.
Engagement:
-Likes: you can see exactly how many users liked your post so you can compare with other post. Analyzing this, will help you select the most popular content.
-Comments: as with likes, tracking your comments, can be useful to know which content is more popular. Besides, comments can be more useful for this purpose than likes, because comments show a real interest from the user who post it.
-Impressions and reach: most of people mix both concepts. Impressions, are the amount of times your post has been seen; and reach, is the amount of unique users have seen it. For this reason, the amount of impressions are always the same or higher than the amount of users reached, never less. If impressions are higher, means that the same users have seen the same post several times.
Feed Post
These insights, will show you which are the post with better behaviour based on reach, impressions and engagement. As result, you will see the most successful post. Using this tool, will help to understand which content is performing better and worst, helping to improve your strategy.

Ultimately, you can look at the general Insights of your profile. If you combine this information together, with you audience Insights and your content Insights, will end with a total analysis of your audience which definitely, will help to create the perfect strategy on this social media.
On your profile Insights, you can find the following information:
-Growth of followers: shows the followers you gain during the time. The amount of followers, is the very first thing lot of users check when they see your account. Even though, is not about the number but the quality of that number. Our platform, allowes to reach audience similar to yours that might be interested on your content but doesn’t know about you. We can show them your profile and increase your number of followers, with quality followers.
-Website Clicks: with a business account, you can include on the profile a link to your blog, website or online shop. Indeed, is an amazing opportunity to turn you Instagram followers on clients. On this option, you can track how many clients reach your website through your Instagram account.
-Profile Visits: you can also check how many users visit your account. On Instagram, unless you have 10k followers, your profile is the only place where you can add a link, (if you have more than 10k, you can add a link on your Stories through “swipe up”). Therefore, knowing how much people visitis your profile every week, can help you understand which kind of content turns into leads.
Note: a lead is a person who gives personal data, hence completes a register on the database, which the company can interact with. Example: suscription to a newsletter.
